Mechanism of Action

Inhibits dihydroorotate dehydrogenase blocking de novo pyrimidine synthesis in rapidly dividing lymphocytes. Immunomodulatory.

Side effects & warnings

Used for immune-mediated polyarthritis and other immune-mediated diseases. Hepatotoxic — monitor liver enzymes. Teratogenic. Diarrhea, anorexia. Slow onset (weeks).
