Mechanism of Action

Incorporated into viral DNA inhibiting thymidylate synthetase and viral DNA polymerase. Active against HSV-1, HSV-2, and some adenoviruses.

Side effects & warnings

Ophthalmic use only. Local irritation and stinging. Punctal plugging may enhance effect. Commonly used in cats for FHV-1 keratitis.
