Elspar, Kidrolase
Enzyme that depletes extracellular asparagine. Tumor cells (especially lymphoblasts) lack asparagine synthetase and die from asparagine depletion.
Anaphylaxis risk (especially with repeated use). Pre-treat with antihistamine. Pancreatitis risk. Coagulopathy (reduces clotting factors). IM preferred to reduce anaphylaxis risk.
