Aldactone
Competitively blocks aldosterone at mineralocorticoid receptors in the distal nephron. Potassium-sparing diuretic with anti-fibrotic cardiac effects.
Hyperkalemia risk, especially with ACE inhibitors. Monitor electrolytes. Anti-androgenic effects (gynecomastia). Used in CHF as adjunct to furosemide. Give with food.
