Mechanism of Action

Competitive H1 histamine receptor antagonist that blocks histamine-mediated allergic responses including pruritus, urticaria, and rhinitis.

Side effects & warnings

Sedation is common. Anticholinergic effects (dry mouth, urinary retention). May be more effective than diphenhydramine for canine atopic dermatitis.
