Poultry pharmacotherapy is dominated by withdrawal-period and species-tolerance considerations: backyard flock medicine often draws on extra-label use of small-animal drugs, where AMDUCA rules apply. Coccidiostats are routinely incorporated into commercial feed; ionophore toxicity (in horses, especially) is a downstream concern. Mycoplasma gallisepticum, infectious bronchitis, and Marek's drive much of the chronic-respiratory pharmacotherapy in commercial flocks; lice, mites, and red mite infestations are persistent ectoparasite challenges.
