Clinical context for ball python dosing

Ball pythons (Python regius) are West-African crepuscular ambush predators with a POTZ of 28–32 °C. Their drug pharmacokinetics differ from active diurnal lizards: clearance is slower, dosing intervals tend to be longer (q48h vs q24h), and stress-induced anorexia is a confounder when assessing therapeutic response. Respiratory infection (often Aeromonas, Pseudomonas, mycoplasma) is the dominant antimicrobial indication; first-line choice depends on culture, with ceftazidime and enrofloxacin frequently used.
