Mechanism of Action

Water-soluble benzodiazepine enhancing GABA-A receptor activity. Anxiolysis, muscle relaxation, anticonvulsant. Becomes lipophilic at physiological pH.

Side effects & warnings

DEA Schedule IV. IM absorption reliable (unlike diazepam). Intranasal route for seizures. Sedation, respiratory depression. Flumazenil for reversal.
