Plaquenil
Accumulates in lysosomes, raising pH and interfering with antigen processing. Inhibits toll-like receptor signaling and reduces pro-inflammatory cytokine production.
Retinal toxicity with prolonged use — monitor ophthalmic exams. GI upset common. Very limited veterinary use for discoid lupus and other immune-mediated dermatoses.
