Inhibits MurA enzyme (enolpyruvyl transferase) in early cell wall synthesis. Unique mechanism with no cross-resistance to other classes.
Limited veterinary data. May cause GI upset. Useful for MDR urinary tract infections. Oral form has limited bioavailability except in urinary tract.
