Synthetic pyrethroid that disrupts sodium channels in arthropod neurons, causing hyperexcitation, paralysis, and death of fleas and ticks on contact.
Highly toxic to cats when applied as pour-on formulations (not collar). Toxic to aquatic organisms. Contact dermatitis possible. Seresto collar form is generally safe for dogs and cats.
