Mechanism of Action

Inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by interfering with dephosphorylation of C55-isoprenyl pyrophosphate.

Side effects & warnings

Nephrotoxic when given systemically. Systemic use limited to severe infections. Monitor renal function closely.
