Binds ergosterol creating membrane pores. Lipid complex formulation reduces nephrotoxicity by preferentially distributing to RES tissues.
Side effects & warnings
Less nephrotoxic than conventional amphotericin B but still significant. Infusion reactions. Monitor renal function and electrolytes.
