Octreotide(Sandostatin)
Synthetic somatostatin analog inhibiting growth hormone, insulin, glucagon, and gastrin release. Reduces splanchnic blood flow.
Used for insulinoma (suppresses insulin secretion), GI bleeding, and acromegaly. GI upset, injection site pain. Gallbladder sludge/stones with chronic use.
